Over 130 years, D. Chandrayachar set out from Derlai, a small village in Karkala – that’s part of Udupi district. He travelled to Somwarpet in Coorg and set up a humble jewellery business there. After laying the foundation stone of Sharada Jewellers and building it in the years that followed, D. Chandrayachar passed on the mantle to his bright and enterprising son, D.C. Bhaskarachar.
It was under D.C. Bhaskarachar’s watch that Sharada Jewellers truly blossomed. Not just in Somwarpet, but all around Coorg, the word spread about Sharada Jewellers. They came to be known for their unfailing quality and remarkable craftsmanship. Soon, customers came from near and far to choose from the store’s impeccable range of designs.
While Sharada Jewellers offers a wide variety in jewellery, their traditional Coorg and South Canara pieces are what impresses the customers beyond words. In 1984, S.B. Arunachala – the third-generation owner – decided it was time to take the beauty and uniqueness of Sharada’s jewellery designs to other cities as well. So, they set up shop in the heritage city of Mysore and there has been no looking back since.
